Brewing with patience and attention; being mindful of tradition, while embracing the future. That’s the philosophy of Canoe’s Brewmaster, Daniel Murphy.
Daniel brings more than a decade of craft-beer experience, and multiple national brewing awards to Canoe’s brew-house. His primary focus is on perfecting our enduring beer styles, and using that foundation to create innovative, memorable one-off batches.
After gaining his initial brewing experience here in Victoria, he left to investigate his native Australian craft-beer scene, but the lure of the Island was too strong. He joined Canoe in 2011, striving to satisfy our customers demand for well-crafted, highly-drinkable, food-friendly beers.

Chef Tainui believes that food should engage emotions and memories of place and time.
Born in New Zealand and trained in Australia, Chef Tainui has always been drawn to island-based food cultures.
Like his home, Vancouver Island’s culinary experience is driven by the lush natural vegetation, an endless supply of local products and a deep-rooted connection to the ocean.
At Canoe, we use big bold flavours to celebrate the natural unique abundance of the iconic West Coast.
